Junior A or WHL Invites to Main Camp
The NWCAA supports our players efforts to play at the highest level and understands the difficult decisions that families need to make. The U18 AAA process is extremely competitive, and players will only be evaluated on the sessions they attend. In order to have the best possible opportunity and evaluation, it is recommended that players attend all tryout sessions.
The NWCAA has a policy that players need to attend a minimum of 2 of the first 3 tryouts before the Red/White games to be eligible to play for the U18 AAA Flames. Exceptions may be made for returning U18 AAA Flames players attending Junior A or WHL camps. Exceptions may also be made when other unique circumstances occur and will require approval in advance from the NWCAA President, Team Coordinator and U18 AAA Head Coach.
Only if a player is missing a U18 AAA tryout due to a conflict with a camp (Junior A or WHL Camp only), you MUST CONTACT by e-mail Claudia Issler at admin@nwcaa.ca.*
The NWCAA ask that you keep in contact and update admin@nwcaa.ca as you proceed with the WHL or Junior A camps. This will allow the NWCAA to keep track of where our players are and provide a report to the coaching staff. Please note that you are NOT to contact the coaches directly.
Please indicate the following:
- NAME OF PLAYER:
- DATE OF BIRTH:
- CAMP TEAM:
- EXPECTED DATE OF RETURN (if known):
No player shall miss a U18 AAA tryout due to attending a Junior B camp. The player will become ineligible for U18 AAA and may only continue in the tryout for U18 AA.
IMPORTANT *NEW* RESPECT IN SPORT (“RIS”) RE-CERTIFICATION
Players will NOT be permitted to step on the ice for tryouts if parents have not completed the RIS re-certification. Please review the RIS information on the home page of the NWCAA website. Parents that completed the RIS course prior to January 1, 2017 must re-certify prior to tryouts. Parent RIS certification will automatically expire 4 years from the original certification date.
VERY IMPORTANT All players MUST REGISTER FOR TRYOUTS regardless of whether they will be attending Junior “A” camps. Players who are successful in making a Junior A team and do not step on the ice for the NWCAA, will be refunded. (If a player is not registered with the NWCAA prior to the registration deadline, the player will not be eligible to return to play with the NWCAA).
Providing that proper and timely communication has occurred, the final date for returning to the NWCAA will be prior to September 25, 2022 (subject to change). Players who wish to return after this date will only be invited to tryout for a NWCAA U21 team.
