Tryout Schedules

  • NWCAA Goaltender Tryouts

The tryout process will consist of two parts:

    1. Technical sessions lead by professional goaltender coaches
    2. Game situation observation

Please be aware, not all goaltenders may advance to the game situation portion of the tryout. Coaches are looking for an above average technical ability from goaltenders. Only those who display superior technical ability will be invited to the game situation portion of the tryout camp.

The NWCAA wish the best of luck to all goalies in their journey to earn a spot in quadrant hockey.

Junior A or WHL Invites to Main Camp

The NWCAA support our players efforts to play at the highest level and understand the difficult decisions that families need to make.  The AAA process is extremely competitive and players will only be evaluated on the sessions they attend.  In order to have the best possible opportunity and evaluation, it is recommended that players attend all tryout sessions. The NWCAA has a policy that players need to attend a minimum of 2 tryouts in order to be eligible to play for the Flames and are working to assist everyone’s schedule.  Exceptions may be made for returning AAA Flames players only.

Only if a player is missing a Midget AAA tryout due to a conflict with a camp (Junior A or WHL Camp only), you MUST CONTACT by e-mail Doris at admin@nwcaa.ca.*
(*There is no need to notify the NWCAA if your player is attending a camp prior to tryouts (the NWCAA receives a notice of all players attending camps from Hockey Calgary – Letter of Permission). Notify the NWCAA only if the player is missing a tryout date because of a Junior A or WHL camp.)

    Please indicate the following:
    NAME OF PLAYER:
    AGE OF PLAYER:
    CAMP TEAM:
EXPECTED DATE OF RETURN (if known):

No player shall miss a Midget AAA tryout due to attending a Junior B camp. The player will become ineligible for Midget AAA and may only continue in the tryout for Midget AA.

VERY IMPORTANT  All players MUST REGISTER FOR TRYOUTS regardless of whether they will be attending Junior “A” camps. Players who are successful in making a Junior A team and do not step on the ice for the NWCAA, will be refunded. (If a player is not registered with the NWCAA prior to the registration deadline, the player will not be eligible to return to play with the NWCAA).

Providing that proper and timely communication has occurred, the final date for returning to the NWCAA will be prior to September 25th. Players who wish to return after this date will only be invited to tryout for a NWCAA Junior B team.
